The tour
Three seeded men's pairs go out of the Kuwait Major in the round of 16. Third seeds Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger took the first set against Tino Libaak and Gonza Alfonso, then lost the next two sets 5-7, 1-6. Jairo Bautista and Lucas Bergamini, last week's winners in Melilla, came from a set down to beat Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas, and Aimar Goñi and Edu Alonso beat Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero 6-4, 6-4. Marc Sintes and Coquito Zamora beat Álex Ruiz and Javi García 6-3, 7-5, and Padel Addict says they are the youngest and lowest-ranked pair ever to reach a Major quarter-final. Coello and Tapia won 6-2, 6-1, and the top four women's pairs all reached the quarter-finals without dropping a set. Source: Padel Addict (Spanish)

A missed entry deadline shakes up the race for the season Finals. The top eight pairs in each Race meet at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona from 10 to 13 December. Padel Addict counts three men's pairs as already through (Coello and Tapia, Galán and Chingotto, Lebrón and Augsburger) and four women's pairs (Triay and Brea, Sánchez and Ustero, González and Josemaría, Fernández and Calvo). Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero did not enter the Dubai P1 in time and will try for a wild card, which could help Bautista and Bergamini. Source: Padel Addict (Spanish)

The players
Galán will decide on Friday whether he can play the World Cup. Citing MARCA Pádel, Padel Addict reports that Ale Galán is resting and was due a specialist check-up today, with a decision on travelling to Doha with Spain expected on Friday. FIP's deadline for replacing a squad player is Saturday 31 October. If Spain need a replacement on the left side, Padel Addict names Javi Leal and Momo González as the likely options. Internationals
The two women's places at the World Cup will be settled in Kuwait on Thursday. Japan, Indonesia, Tunisia and Egypt won their groups at the final Asia and Africa qualifying event, and Thursday's semi-finals are Japan against Indonesia and Tunisia against Egypt, with both winners going to Doha. In the men's event, Kuwait, Egypt, Australia and Morocco are playing for one place, starting with Kuwait against Egypt and Australia against Morocco. Source: FIP

In Doha, tour partners become opponents. FIP points out that several of the best pairs will be split by nationality: Tapia plays for Argentina and Coello for Spain, as do Augsburger and Lebrón, and Di Nenno and Navarro. Women's world number ones Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay will also be on opposite sides, with Spain chasing a seventh world title in a row. Source: FIP

Business and tech
A college league launches in the United States. The Pro Padel League and five US club operators have founded the College Padel League, which starts with more than 20 partner universities and aims for over 40 by the end of its first season. Students qualify through local tournaments run by the operators in ten cities, and up to 20 teams go to the playoffs in Miami from 3 to 5 December, alongside the Pro Padel League Finals. Courts, coaching, travel and accommodation are covered at launch, with a $20,000 prize pool. Source: The Padel Paper

New clubs
Six new courts open in an Isle of Man park this weekend. Manx Padel has turned four tennis courts at Noble's Park into six panoramic glass courts with floodlights, open from 6am to 10pm every day. Opening day starts at 10am with a free round robin and rackets to borrow. Planners approved the scheme unanimously in April 2025. Source: Isle of Man Today

A Cumbrian rugby club applies for three padel courts. Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club wants to build two covered courts and one open court, with parking, at Underley Park, open from 06:00 to 23:00. Westmorland and Furness Council is taking comments until 16 November. Club member Alan Cook, who made the application, describes it as an investment in a town that has had a hard couple of years.
