Playtomic Connect: what it means for your club's lights, doors and other tools

Playtomic has started cutting off tools that reach club accounts without its authorisation, and is pointing providers to Playtomic Connect, its certified partner programme. If your lights, doors, CRM or loyalty scheme depend on your Playtomic bookings, here is what is changing and what to check, from Playtomic's own published pages.

The short version

What Playtomic Connect is

Playtomic describes Connect as the way for external companies to integrate with its clubs "in a secure, verified, and mutually beneficial way". It publishes three steps:

  1. Apply. The provider fills in a partner form; the Connect team reviews it and arranges a qualification call.
  2. Get certified. A technical assessment, a legal agreement and onboarding, so the integration meets Playtomic's standards.
  3. Get access. The product appears in Playtomic Manager, where clubs find it and choose whether to activate it.

For a provider, the draw is reach: Playtomic says certified partners are visible to more than 6,500 clubs in 66 countries, get documented API access and can use a "Playtomic Certified" badge. For a club, the point is that a certified tool has been checked by Playtomic, and that you decide which ones can see your data. Playtomic's page lists no fees and no published list of certified partners yet.

Why some integrations are stopping

Playtomic's help centre says it is "rolling out a security update that affects clubs using unauthorized automations or third-party tools connected to their account". It is tightening access for external tools that connect without official authorisation, as part of the move to Connect.

It is explicit about who has to act: the software provider, the loyalty programme, the developer you hired, or "any external company that accesses your Playtomic account on your behalf". Clubs are asked to tell that provider and share the Connect link, and there is a short form for clubs to say which tools they use and how much they rely on them, so Playtomic can prioritise.

Playtomic has not published a date or a list of the integrations affected.

The routes a tool can use to reach Playtomic today

1. Manager's hardware Integrations tab. Under Settings > Integrations, a club picks its lighting or access-control provider, pastes the API token that provider gives it, and pairs each Playtomic court with the provider's court. Playtomic then sends the bookings to the provider. The club sets how long before and after a booking the lights stay on and the access codes work; codes are created for each match and refresh 10 minutes before it starts. Only providers already listed in that tab can be chosen.

2. The Playtomic API, with credentials the club generates. Under Settings > Developer Tools, a club creates its own Client ID and Client Secret and gives them to the provider. The API is read-only: bookings from the last three months plus all future bookings, and payment history. Playtomic's own guide lists "facility management: integrate with smart door locks, lighting or other IoT systems" among its uses. Access needs a Champion or Master subscription, for each location in a multi-site group. Regenerating the credentials cancels the old pair, so anyone who regenerates them breaks every tool using them until it is given the new pair.

3. Anything else. A tool that signs in with a manager's own username and password, or reads Manager's pages, is not one of the routes Playtomic documents. These are the connections the security update is aimed at.

What to ask each of your providers

  1. Which route do you use? The Integrations tab, the API with credentials we generated, or something else?
  2. If it is the API: are we on a plan that includes it (Champion or Master), and who in our team holds the credentials?
  3. Have you applied to Playtomic Connect, and where are you in the process?
  4. What happens at the club if the connection stops? Do the lights fail on or off, and can members still get through the door?
  5. Do you only read our data, or do you write to Playtomic too? The API cannot create or change bookings, so a tool that does is using another route.

Where Court Intel stands

Court Intel has applied to Playtomic Connect and is on the list of testers for its first version.

We have been open with Playtomic's Connect team about how Court Intel works with the clubs we serve. In October 2026 they confirmed in writing that our approach is the one they recommend today for court lighting and door entry, that they have no plans to change it, and that they will give partners notice if that ever changes. If your club runs on Court Intel, there is nothing you need to do.

Court Intel is an independent company, not part of Playtomic. How it works with Playtomic, and what it needs from your plan: Playtomic integration.

Frequently asked questions

What is Playtomic Connect?

Playtomic's official integration programme for outside companies. Providers apply, pass a qualification call, a technical assessment and a legal agreement, and are then listed inside Playtomic Manager, where clubs choose which services to activate.

Why has my Playtomic integration stopped working?

Playtomic is tightening access for tools connected to club accounts without its authorisation. Ask the provider which route it uses and send it the Playtomic Connect link. Also check nobody regenerated your API credentials, which cancels the old pair.

Will API credentials from Developer Tools stop working?

Playtomic has published nothing saying so, and its Connect team has told us in writing that it has no plans to change this route for lighting and door entry, with notice to partners if that ever changes. Credentials do stop working the moment someone at the club regenerates them.

Which Playtomic plan do I need for API access?

Champion or Master. In a multi-location group, every location needs one of those plans; chain owners can ask for unified access through their account manager.

Can a tool create or change bookings through the Playtomic API?

No. The API is read-only: it returns bookings from the last three months plus future bookings, and payment data, but cannot create, edit or delete anything.

Does Playtomic Connect cost the club anything?

Playtomic's Connect page lists no fees. Each provider sets its own prices for its service.
